Birds can be strangled by plastic rings that hold cans together. When they dip their beaks into the water to catch fish, they also pick up water, and if it is polluted, they drink polluted water, get a disease, and maybe die. If the fish caught is sick, then the fish passes it onto the bird, and the bird gets the disease.
